| Red Lodge, Montana has progressed over the last century from coal town to cow town to ski town. It maintains a historic Old West main street while supporting a cosmopolitan population of about 2000. The community has had a fascination with geology since the early 1930s, when the pioneering faculty from the eastern universities realized the wealth of geological experiences available within a short travel from the town.
