Fanshawe Restoration Progress

YBRA’s Fanshawe Lodge is being restored to near original condition through grant funding provided by the Carbon County Historic Rehabilitation Grant Program (CCHR). This initiative, supported by a Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant from the National Park Service, is providing funds to stabilize the lodge floor and porch support systems, brace the chimneys, repair and refinish the exterior and interior of the log walls and refurbish the windows. The rock foundation is in surprisingly good shape after 89 years. The grant totals approximately $130,000. This includes a 25% YBRA match with our cash outlay being covered by a generous donation from Richard Krushensky (YBRA ‘57) an alumnus, and in-kind contributions generated mainly through the work of Greg Creasy and his summer crew. Log and chinking work is being completed by Solomon Martin and Zoula LLC Masonry Services. Expert guidance and oversight are provided by Lesley Gilmore, a historic preservation architect, and DCI, an engineering firm with experience in restoring historic structures. As of the end of the 2025 season, about half of the project is complete with an anticipated finish by August 2026. The grant and project are being facilitated by Richard Fifarek (Past-President) for the YBRA.
